First day for collection of school supplies for K-12 students in Alamance County designated as "homeless."  This effort, which will continue through August 27,  is co-sponsired by the Kernodle Center and SGA.

M-4. Tour Elon Homes property, Station at Mill Point & Francis Center              (10:30 a.m. – 12:00 noon)

Biobus transportation to the Francis Center available from the Moseley Center

Following the president's opening address, faculty and staff are invited to tour new campus facilities and property, including the Elon Homes property on South Campus, the Station at Mill Point Apartments for seniors, and the Gerald L. Francis Center, home of the School of Health Sciences.  Free bag lunches and soft drinks will be available at each location.  Biobus transportation will be provided to and from the Moseley Center and Francis Center.  Faculty and staff are invited to walk to the Station Apartments and Elon Homes property.  For those requiring assistance, limited transportation to and from Elon Homes and the Station will be provided leaving from the Moseley Center parking lot.

M-6  Generations in the Workplace (1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.)

Stephanie Kelber, Consultant in Training & Organizational Development at NC State University will assist attendees in learning more about the work styles of the different generations.  This will include examining the Values/Work Ethic, the Workplace Attributes, and the Workplace Struggles of the different generations (Traditionalists, Baby Boomers, Generation X, Generation Y, and Generation Z)

M-8. Preparing for Sessions on “The Responsibilities of Engaged Learning"  (3:30 p.m. – 4:45 p.m.)

On Monday, August 27, from 9:00 – 9:45 a.m., first year and transfer students will meet in small groups with a faculty member to talk about their academic responsibilities for learning at Elon. Today’s session will allow assigned faculty who have not led these sessions before to discuss the event and to share ideas.

Intended Audience: Faculty who will be leading Engaged Learning Sessions for the first time

M-10. Reception for New Faculty and Staff    (5:30 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.)

President and Mrs. Lambert will welcome new faculty and staff at a reception at their home, Maynard House.

Intended Audience: Open to all new faculty and staff (green and blue nametags) at Elon University. This invitation is also extended to spouses or guests. An e-mail invitation to this event (asking for an RSVP) will be sent from the President’s Office to those new faculty and staff who are invited.

Directions to Maynard House from I-85/I-40:

From I-85/I-40, take Exit 141 to Elon University.
Turn north toward Elon onto Huffman Mill Road.
Drive 2.1 miles past a mall, across S. Church Street and Edgewood Avenue to Saddle Club Road.
Turn left on Saddle Club Road.
Drive one short block and turn left onto Pineway Drive.
Drive 0.4 mile. Maynard House is on the left at 2423 Pineway Drive, Burlington.

 

Directions to Maynard House from campus:

Drive east toward Burlington on Haggard Avenue.
Turn right at the stoplight onto Oak Avenue.
Follow Oak Avenue across the railroad tracks and around a large curve.
Turn right onto Saddle Club Road.
After approximately 0.6 mile, turn right onto Pineway Drive.
Drive 0.4 mile. Maynard House is on the left at 2423 Pineway Drive.
