Alternative fuel, solar power, demonstrate ways to conserve
energy
Jack Martin explains how his Volkswagen runs on biodiesel.
Biodiesel is made through a process which separates the
glycerin and fat in vegetable oil. The product is a clean,
non-toxic fuel. Martin explained that biodiesel is actually
cheaper to produce than other fuels. The price for a barrel
of oil crossed $54 for the first time this week. Martin
thinks its use will become more widespread as industries
adjust to a cheaper fuel source. When the biodiesel is burned
in the engine, the fumes are much more pleasant than those
released by diesel fuel.
