Environmental services supervisor passes away this week

Keith L. Vaughn, supervisor of environmental services died suddenly after suffering an aneurysm Monday.

Vaughn was an employee of the university for about 10 years. He came to Elon in September of 1994.

Most recently, Vaughn’s duties included day-shift activities of looking over campus buildings, including dormitories, the Loy Center and various on-campus apartments.

“His death was a sudden, unexpected event,” said Ed Eng, director of physical plant who worked closely with Vaughn for about 4 years. “Surely, he will be missed not only by those in the department, but also across campus.”

A viewing will take place at David B. Lawson Mortuary LLC in Graham on Wednesday, May 5 from noon until 8 p.m.

The funeral will be held Thursday May 6 at 1 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Burlington. Visitation will begin at 12:30 p.m. before the funeral services begin.
