Heyer faces criminal charges today, though the University judiciary system has been investigating Heyer's actions since Tuesday. Criminal complaints were filed three days after another Elon student found a secret camera hidden in a clock radio she received from Heyer. Suspicious of Heyer's intentions, the student brought the camera to Campus Safety and Police.
