Computer problems cause cancellation of sophomore assessment this year

The sophomore writing assessment was cancelled because of technological difficulties, but it will be back next year. However, current sophomores are still excused from the test, as announced on Tuesday. The sophomore writing assessment has changed since its inception 10 years ago. 'Required' writing assessment in need of revision

Tuesday, 1,200 sophomore students rose out of bed to take the required sophomore writing assessment, which had to be completed any time between 7:30 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. To the students? dismay, the test was not made available on Blackboard until 8 a.m. When many students were near the completion of the assessment one server failed because of the large number of students on the server at one time, and students were not able to complete, nor submit the test. Shortly afterward, students received an e-mail from school officials stating that there will be no retest and students are exempt.....
