‘Together we unite to take back the night’

Wednesday evening “Take Back the Night” was
held in Whitley Auditorium to raise awareness about sexual
assault and rape. During the week, students were invited to
make t-shirts concerning sexual assault and rape. They were
on display at Moseley Center and put on stage during the
program. Smith Jackson, dean of Student Life, Crystal Sharpe,
domestic violence investigator of Graham Police Department
and Deana Joy of CrossRoads Sexual Assault Response and
Resource Center spoke at the event. Twisted Measure, Chris
Hendricks, Sweet Signatures and James Pieper performed. The
candlelight march was cancelled due to rainstorms. The first
“Take Back the Night was held in 1877 in England.
