Club teams headed to various tournaments

Roller Hockey

The roller hockey team has been preparing for its upcoming trip to the National Championships in Fort Collins, Colo. on April 13-16. The team encourages all of its fans to listen to its games, which will be broadcasted live on the Internet at IBSU.net.

Equestrian

Sophomore Jozi Snowberger was reserve champion in the open equitation on the flat at the Zone 4 Championship on April 8. This appearance qualified her for the National Championship on May 5-8. This will be her second appearance at Nationals. She placed third last year.

The Dressage team showed at Averett College on April 3, and performed the best it ever had. The team placed No. 2. Allison Mordas placed seventh at the first level. Ta Boyce finished third at training four, and Lexy Chaytor placed first at Intro. Chaytor placed first in the region, and will participate in the National Championships.

Volleyball

The volleyball club finished its season ranked No. 1 in the state.

The team will compete in the National Championships on April 13-16 in Kansas City, Mo. The team finished its season with a record of 45-3.

Baseball

The baseball club finished 0-3 in a series against NC State this past weekend. After putting together a six-run seventh inning to bring the game within two, Elon was not able to overcome NC State in the final two innings of the first game on April 9. Elon played a double-header against NC State on April 10. The team lost 17-0 and 21-9. "Elon had its butt thoroughly stomped in a fashion similar to the men who attempted to save the Alamo," said club president Rob Kiser. The team will play UNC-Chapel Hill on April 16.

Swim

The Elon women fought for fourth place throughout the entire meet at UNC-Chapel Hill on April 9, and they came very close to getting it.  Several swimmers had their best times of the year and placed very well, scoring enough points for the team to finish No. 5 overall in the meet. Daniel Smith, the only male swimmer participating in the meet, placed second and third in his races. This allowed the men to finish No. 6 out of 11 teams.

Rugby

The women's rugby team traveled to Philadelphia, Pa. to compete against Mulligan University. The team won, 3-0. The Elon women dominated Mulligan, holding them scoreless throughout the game. Ashia Sims scored twice and Sally French scored once.

Ultimate Frisbee

The women's ultimate frisbee team advanced to the Regional Championships after placing sixth in the tournament held at Wake Forest this past weekend. The team came into the tournament ranked No. 7, but after defeating Duke 15-5 the team finished No. 6 overall.

Regionals will take place in Statesboro, Ga on April 30-May 1.

Field Hockey

The field hockey team defeated UNC-Wilmington 2-1 on April 9. Julie Kenneally scored both goals with A.C. Ratcliffe and Rob Harrison assisting. Molly Pearson played a great game in goal. The team will play UNC at home on April 16.

Lacrosse

With only 17 players, the men's lacrosse team was able to compete closely with Appalachian State, the No. 5 team in the nation. The team lost 18-14. John Clark scored four goals and Pete Johnson scored three. The team will play The Citadel at home on April 16.
