Union pressures Aramark, Triad

Students and faculty have joined union representatives to fight for Aramark worker's rights. Students rallied together on Friday and Monday, wearing white T-shirts with blue and red lettering that say, "We support Aramark worker's rights." These students gathered together outside a dining hall, handed out T-shirts to anyone who would support the cause and then ordered lunch and sat peacefully eating it ... more

Migrants tell their stories

An honors class will present their documentary about Latino migrant workers at 7:30 p.m. in the Isabella Cannon Room Tuesday . Throughout the semester, HNR 275: American Working Class has worked on this presentation. It will include mounted photos, a speaker, a slideshow with voiceover and video interviews with workers. The speaker will be either Leonardo Galvan, an activist for Latino migrant workers, or Andrea Bazan-Manson, executive director of El Pueblo, a resource center for migrants... more

"Club Belk": An inside look at the library

How might one describe the library during exam week? Librarians Shaunta Adams and Randall Bowman said the library becomes frantic and insane. "Every computer, every chair, every study room, even some floor space is taken," Adams said. "It's packed." Freshman Derek Chimner, who works at the circulation desk, said the library is clearly much busier during exam week. "During a regular week, first floor will be noisy, second floor will be better and third floor will be silent," he said. "But during exam week, first floor is ridiculously loud, second floor is like the first floor is regularly and third floor is still quiet." ... more
