Open Mic

Listen up Elon—you have been waiting nearly a year for
this information, and now you will have your answer.
Two years ago, you saw Maroon 5 go wild. Last year, Gavin
DeGraw made you swoon. This year, well, it might just be the
best one yet.
At 8 p.m. on May 6 in Koury Gym, O.A.R. will blow your mind.
Every year, one of the biggest events on campus comes only a
few weeks before the end of the spring semester, and this
year will surely not disappoint. Let's call it a
reward for making it through another year.
The Student Union Board has worked extra hard this year to
get an amazing act for Elon, and they did it.
Of A Revolution, more commonly known as O.A.R., has found
their niche in the music world, making music for nearly a
decade. They have five studio albums and several live
recordings.
O.A.R. is most recognized by their songs "Love and
Memories," "That Was a Crazy Game of Poker"
and "Hey Girl."
The band's members: lead singer/rhythm guitarist Marc
Roberge, lead guitarist Richard On, saxist Jerry DePizzo,
bassist Benj Gershman and drummer Chris Culos infuse several
different genres to get their original sound.
Blending elements of rock, reggae, ska and folk, O.A.R. has
their own unique sound that is a genre all its own.
Their style comes closest to the Dave Matthews Band, who they
are often compared to, and other bands such as 311 and Ben
Folds Five.
O.A.R. created a movement with their sound and soulful
lyrics. In 1998, the band started with the college
audience and has since been selling out crowds all over the
United States.
If you have not heard the music of O.A.R., pick up a CD and
listen.
When O.A.R. comes, you won't want to miss them.
No opening act has been announced yet. Tickets will go
on sale for students at 10 a.m. on March 27 online and in
Moseley Center. Tickets for the public will go on sale
April 3. Student tickets are $15 and public tickets are
$25.
"Love me faster than the devil
Run me straight into the ground
Drowning deep inside your water
Drowning deep inside your sound."
On March 27, visit www.elontickets.com and prepare to drown
in the extraordinary sound of O.A.R.
