Campus Recreation devotes week to
health and wellness

Campus Recreation's annual Health and Wellness Week will
be Monday, March 13 through Thursday, March 16. Health and
Wellness Week is designed to provide the Elon community with
information and events that promote healthy decision-making
and overall physical and spiritual wellness.
"Special Programs has planned fun events that will
cater to anyone who wants to participate," said
sophomore Dana Meyer, team member of special programs.
Healthy food samples will be available from 4 to 6 p.m. on
Monday in the Koury Center Commons. Students, faculty and
staff are encouraged to sample healthy snacks and attend the
Group Exercise Salsa dance lesson class from 6 to 7 p.m.
followed by the Mind, Body, Soul class.
Campus Recreation Special Programs and Substance Education
will be sponsoring a table at College Coffee on Tuesday. The
first 150 students to stop by the table will receive a free
spring break survival pack.
The Triathlon Club will be sponsoring a Mini Duathlon on
Tuesday to help participants get in shape for spring break.
The event will consist of a two-mile run followed by a
quarter-mile swim. Prospective participants can sign up at
College Coffee or at the Campus Recreation front desk.
Campus Recreation Driving Range will hosting iGolf
from 4 to 6 p.m. on Wednesday and award prizes to
participants that are able to hit designated targets.
On Thursday, the Substance Education area of Campus
Recreation, in conjunction with Alamance County's chapter
of Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD), will conduct field
sobriety tests from 4 - 6 p.m. in Young Commons. Participants
will complete one of the tests sober, while the other one
will include the assistance of "beer goggles" that
simulate various Blood Alcohol Content levels.
"Health and Wellness week is an innovative way to get
students involved in healthy decision making and get ready
for spring break," said senior Nicki Rhew, team leader
for Special Programs.
