Softball pitcher named Player of the Week

Debbie Ziegler was named Southern Conference Player of the Week for her performance last week. The sophomore catcher/third baseman ended the week with a slugging percentage of .760 and an on-base percentage of .520. In her six games she had 13 hits including a 4 for 4 game against Campbell University. Overall, Ziegler had a total of 11 RBIs to go along with her home run and three doubles. She had an exceptional week in the field, picking up no errors.

Powell honored by youth soccer

Head men's soccer coach, Darren Powell was named Greensboro Youth Soccer Classic Coach of the Year. Powell recieved this honor for his exceptional accomplishment with the Elon Phoenix men's soccer team this year. He turned around a team that went 4-11-5 in 2004 to a team that went 9-9-2 in 2005 and won their first-ever, Southern Conference playoff game against Appalachian State.
