Open Mic: Flyleaf: Hard rock Christian music?

It is not often that you hear a hard rock Christian band. In fact, before this week, I had never heard of such a band. In our pile of CDs, I found something rather surprising. Because here at The Pendulum, we receive several CDs from up and coming bands or bands that have been around but are lesser known. In this plethora of CDs, most, if not all, are Christian bands. Derek Webb, Tobymac and Chris Rice to name a few.

Back Sunday proves itself

A lot of people criticize Taking Back Sunday and a lot of people say they've sold out. I'm one of them. The band left indie-super-label Victory Records and made the jump to Warner Brothers last summer. Releasing their album first on MTV.com seems an outright betrayal to their emo roots.

Student juggles academics, television work

Almost every night, junior JP Chism is fine-tuning film clip transitions and tweaking audio tracks in an editing suite at the McEwen communications building. He is usually working under deadline. Playing back the footage to capture the right clips of film and cuing sound-bytes. Working to get a professional newscast pulled together for a live broadcast during the week.
