'Katrina Week' keeps hope alive at Elon

Today's panel discussion and talk from the Milner family, from Bay St. Louis, Miss., is the central focus for Katrina Week, a week where the Elon Community can reflect on their experiences dealing with the storm and its recovery efforts.

Habitat for Humanity helps to give Burlington family a place to call home

The paint on the walls still smells fresh, the counter surfaces gleam, and the carpet is plush and untarnished. There is a shuffle of bare feet on the linoleum in the kitchen. The sound of cupboards opening and closing mingles with the laughter and voices of the friends and family who have gathered here for the deication ceremony.

Organization Briefs

The Pendulum runs organizational briefs free of charge as a service to the Elon community. The Pendulum asks that briefs be informative of upcoming events and should be no longer than 40 words. All briefs should be turned in by 5 p.m. Monday.

Quality of Jefferson essay contest continues to improve

Quality over quantity appeared to be the theme for the tenth annual Philip L. Carret Endowment Thomas Jefferson Essay Contest, with only six students competitors. "We'll take the quality of the papers over the numbers any day,"

Earth Day creates fun while promoting the environment

The Elon Sierra Club sponsored this year's Earth Day by Lake Mary Nell last Friday. Attendees enjoyed music, crafts and food like hot dogs, ice cream and soup. Information tables were set up around the area to promote awareness of environmental issues, such as recycling. Elon Students for Peace and Justice, College Democrats, Elon Outdoors and the Elon Environmental Council also helped contribute to the festivities. This year's event marked the 36th year of celebrating the environment for the nation.

Mynt showcases fashion at discounted prices

When in search of some of the trendiest brands, many girls on campus venture to the Elon clothing store Mynt at 108 W. Lebanon Ave. While some shop at Mynt for its intimate atmosphere and one-of-a-kind selection, others might have been scared off by rumors of budget blowing prices.
