Interesting facts... There are 1,066 graduate candidates for the Class of 2006. The first class graduated in 1891 with three students. Elon broke the century mark with 112 graduates in 1949. Elon became a university in 2001 and graduated 913 students the following spring. The mark of 1,000 graduates was surpassed in 2004. Working together on and off the field For Emily Chesney and Gillian Murray, it's not about competition or out-performing each other. It's about having support in a friendship that goes beyond the social life. For these two, it extends into their homework and training for Elon varsity soccer. Seniors bid farewell to friends and Elon Senior-submitted final farewells to Elon Celebrate graduation internationally Esha Patel, originally from India, is an accounting major and computer science, math and business administration minor. She plans to work in Washington, D.C. with global corporation KPMG after graduation. Patel says she is looking forward to spending time with her family, who she hasn't seen in a year. Her favorite Elon memories are from Freshman Orientation. Senior biology major makes big impact Biology, chemistry, physics and all of the other sciences find themselves at the bottom of the totem pole in participants around Elon's campus. Elon sport's teams were not only characterized as improving, as it has been in the past. But for the first time in many years, they were competitive throughout the year and in a few cases found themselves at the top of the standings. It could have also been named "the year of the freshman." Baseball bids goodbye to seniors after career-best season As graduation nears, 10 Elon Phoenix baseball players will make that walk across the stage and receive the diploma that will mark the end of their undergraduate academic careers. A Message To The Class Of 2006 Well congratulations to all the graduates. Now that all that sentimentality's out of the way, here's the type of world you're graduating into. You are graduating into a world where the government wields more power than it was ever intended to have and the major political battles between the two major political parties are whether the government should actively interfere in your personal life or your financial life, never mind the fact that it has no business being involved in either. |
