After spending the 2006 spring semester abroad in Copenhagen, Denmark, senior Jonathan Chapman came up with the idea of starting a new worship service for students, faculty and staff on campus.

A phoenix isn’t usually a well recognized type of animal, especially not as a mascot. However, this proved different over the summer when Elon’s own mascot was awarded several honors along with the all-female cheerleading squad.

The Phoenix was awarded the most improved mascot and the All-American mascot.  

T-shirts supporting overseas troops make statements

Differing from the traditional yellow ribbon bumper stickers that appear on cars nowadays in order to showcase support for troops in Iraq and Afghanistan, T-shirts are beginning to make a big statement.

Mostly, summer is a time when students are able to wipe their slate clean and get ready to come back to school to take classes and see friends again.
