Tennis hosts fall invitational

Although the tennis season is typically in the spring, the Elon men and women’s tennis teams are lucky enough to have a shot at success during the fall season as well.

This past weekend, both teams hosted an invitational, with the women playing at Jimmy Powell Tennis Center while the men competed at the Burlington Tennis Center.
Among the teams that attended were Campbell University, High Point University, Belmont University, Wofford College and UNC-Greensboro. Unfortunately, the weekend tournament had to be cut short a day because of inclement weather; nevertheless, both teams saw a successful outing Friday afternoon.

Brad Mclaughlin/ Reporter

The Elon Phoenix football team looks for a big Southern Conference win as they travel to face the Georgia Southern Eagles Saturday. The Eagles are a perennial Southern Conference powerhouse but have played a tough schedule this year and have not dominated opponents like they have in the past.

Last week, they lost 34-14 at home to North Dakota State, the ninth ranked team in the country.
