Phoenix hopes to rebound after slow start

It's amazing how one stretch of a season game can define a team's season. While playing against the University of Pennsylvania Quakers, the Phoenix played stifling defense, stole the ball and passed it up to senior Chris Chalko for the wide open dunk. But, just before he could slam the ball in with authority, the referees blew the whistle and called a traveling violation on Chalko.

Injuries give freshmen chance to shine on court

The 2006-2007 men's basketball season might be classified as the year of the freshmen. With all six members of this season's recruiting class battling for playing time, the success of the team rests largely on the freshmen's ability to adjust to college athletics and compete with older, more experienced players.

 


Phoenix optimistic for second half

The true story of this year's women's basketball team can be told by a handout that head coach Brenda Paul passed out to her players recently. The handout shows the headline for each of the teams seven wins so far this season, each highlighting a different member of the team.

The Phoenix has gotten off to a 7-10 start and are 2-5 in the Southern Conference.
