Freshman Year - Self and Career Awareness

  • Adjust to transition from high school to college
  • Focus on making good grades
  • Visit the Elon Career Center to learn more about yourself with the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, Campbell Interest and Skills Survey, and Self-Directed Search; meet with a career counselor to talk about results of self-assessment inventories and your career options
  • Attend career exploration series and other career development workshops
  • Enroll in COE 110- "Exploring Careers/Majors"
  • Identify majors that relate to your interests, abilities, and values
  • Participate in extracurricular activities that enhance your skills and values
  • Get involved in a service experience - contact the Center for Service Learning
  • Plan early for summer work or internships/co-ops
  • Complete several information interviews
