House Captain training occurred August 19 – August 23rd. The week started with games and icebreakers to kick off staff bonding for the 19 House Captains over their shared role within the Greek community. The House Captains serve a similar role to resident assistants for their chapter, and are an extremely important part of the overall operation of the housing facilities. Reporting to the Assistant Director of Greek Life, the House Captains are nominated by their individual chapters with final selection by the Director and Assistant Directors of Greek Life.
Training was planned by Jordan King, Raven Bennett and Paxton Syrek. Jordan is an Assistant Director of Greek Life and Paxton and Raven are two students serving in the role of Housing Assistant. The three created a dynamic and engaging training plan that included risk management training, crisis scenario response practice, leadership training, resident support strategies and team building. A big thank you to all of our campus partners that helped facilitate training including Campus Safety, the Office of Sustainability, Health Promotion and Student Concerns Outreach, Loy Neighborhood Housekeeping Staff, Physical Plant and the Center for Leadership.
