Purpose:
The Elon University Panhellenic Council governs the
female fraternities and sororities that are members of
the National Panhellenic Conference (NPC). It promotes
cooperation and cohesiveness within the Greek
community, oversees formal recruitment for its member
groups, and sponsors service opportunities, social
events and educational programs throughout the year.
Panhellenic meetings are held every Wednesday at 7:30
p.m. in Moseley 217.
2008 Goals
Council
1.
Bring educational speakers that the Panhellenic
community asked for
2.
Start a Greek event in the fall as a promotional tool
to meet freshmen and transfer students
3.
Build relationships and communicate effectively with
IFC and NPHC
4.
Promote and execute events inspiring Greek unity and
campus
involvement5.
Teach and inspire the chapters to better exhibit the
values and ideals of their organizations through
presentations and joined events
6.
Improve the image of the Panhellenic council on
Elon’s campus through public events such as
service projects, getting involved with other
organizations, and positive publicity.
7. Find
ways to get people excited about our events and improve
attendance at non-required events
8.
Find better ways to communicate with the chapters
so that our objects and educational programming is
completed
President, Shannon McMinn
1. To
increase attendance at Panhellenic meetings and to
create an understanding within the Panhellenic
community regarding the role of the executive council
members and the importance of Panhellenic community
involvement.

further strengthen Tri-council management and
cooperation

further promote community involvement and work to
co-sponsor events
4.
Properly train Panhellenic Delegates on their
responsibilities and importance of their duties, and to
motivate them to do their job
5. Act
as a liaison between the Panhellenic council and other
organizations, and administers on Elon’s
campus.

work more closely with the Chapter Presidents to get
their involvement and input on Panhellenic sponsored
activities.
Vice President, Lauren Ellis
1. To
have judicial training sessions each semester that
allows the delegates to feel educated and prepared to
run through a real case.
a. To
be unbiased and simply facilitate discussion and to put
all prior knowledge aside.
b. To
encourage knowledge of the judicial process throughout
the Panhellenic community.
2. To
fairly judge all T-shirts.
a. To
hold a T-shirt round table so T-shirt chairs better
understand the rules, reasons, and responsibility of
the committee.
b. To
encourage chapters to create T-shirts that uphold their
sorority values and give Elon and Greek Life in general
a positive image.
3.
Foster Tri-council relations by working in
collaboration to plan risk management programs for the
Greek community.
a.
Encourage the Tri-councils to create similar sanctions
for similar cases so punishment is equal throughout the
Greek community.

and how to recruit strong members into our community
(i.e. through normal social Panhellenic contact,
meeting women in classes & at university related
events instead of social situations)

Increase advertisement for Fall COB process

Coordinate with Elon orientation, Family Weekend, high
schools around the area to promote Greek Life.
5. Help
the Assistant Director of Recruitment in training the
recruitment counselors.
Assistant Director of Recruitment, Jen
DiVenuti
1.
To aid the Director of Recruitment in all areas.
2.
Innovative Recruitment Counselor (Pi Chi)
activities to strengthen the program as well as a
stricter disaffiliation process.
3.
Work on unity as a Greek Community – promote
through co-sponsored activities and
events.
4.
Coordinate a “Meet the Greeks” program
during orientation for all potential members –
would inform freshmen of the grades necessary to
participate in recruitment and simply what Greek Life
at Elon is all about.
5.
Actively reduce recruitment infractions and
“dirty recruiting” for
sororities.6.
In addition to that have a clear-cut system
devised for exact punishments to coincide with each
offense.
7.
Compose an informational packet to send all
freshman women to educate them about Greek Life
and Recruitment.

Engelhardt
1. To
get one all Greek event done this semester.

find one cause or problem that really effects our
community and to find a way we can help support
it.

find/plan events that get our community excited and
should make them want to be there.

Director of Scholarship, Erin
Lewandowski
1.
Encourage scholarship chairs of every organization to
provide suggestions on improvements and activities for
chapter scholarship.
2.
Create a system for rewarding Panhellenic women with
high GPA’s that would occur more than once a
semester
3.
Provide more scholarship opportunities for those women
within the Panhellenic community and keep them updated
on scholarships outside of Panhellenic as well.
4.
Review each chapter’s scholarship chairs academic
scholarship achievement plan to ensure a well developed
plan and a proper way of implementing that plan in the
coming semesters.
5.
Encourage women to become involved in Greek honoraries
and increase their involvement around campus.
6.
Establish a closer relationship with the scholarship
chairs of every chapter and their advisors.
7.
Promote and establish a way that scholarship can be
incorporated into Greek Week.
8.
Promote Week of the Scholar throughout campus and work
with the Director of Public Relations to promote it
throughout the Greek
community.9.
Promote an increase by .10 in GPA’s in each
chapter and reward those women with high GPA’s.
