Winter Term 2009 Greek Life Internship

January 6 - February 1 (4 weeks)

Job Description & Learning Outcomes:

Develop effective communication skills by educating new students and their parents on the logistics of fraternity and sorority recruitment in January 2009.

  • Answer questions regarding recruitment via phone and in person
  • Assist with publicity and marketing communications via E-net, emails and flyers
  • Work with IFC and Panhellenic Recruitment Directors on event logistics

Exhibit the ability to comprehend the dynamics of a group and visualize a group purpose through planning and execution of the annual Greek Leadership Retreat on February 6-8 2009.

  • Coordinate facilities, transportation, lodging and meals for retreat
  • Assist Greek Life and Center for Leadership with development of curriculum
  • Facilitate retreat sessions and encourage participation
  • Develop and administer assessment of retreat based on learning outcomes

Exhibit self-reliant behaviors and function autonomously by assisting with the management Loy Center facilities and the Greek Housing Review Process

  • Assist the Assistant Director with facility maintenance and management
  • Organize and compile Greek Housing Review applications

Spring Term 2009 Greek Life Internship

February 3 - May 12 (12 weeks)

Job Description & Learning Outcomes:

Develop effective communication skills by educating new students and their parents on the logistics of IFC fraternity recruitment in February 2009.

  • Answer questions regarding recruitment via phone and in person
  • Assist with event planning for fraternity recruitment events, including Kick Off on Sunday, February 15th and Bid Day on Friday, February 20th

Exhibit the ability to comprehend the dynamics of a group and visualize a group purpose through planning and execution of the annual Greek Leadership Retreat in February 2009.
Coordinate facilities, transportation, lodging and meals for retreat
Assist Greek Life with development of curriculum
Facilitate retreat sessions and encourage participation
Develop and administer assessment of retreat based on learning outcomes

Plan and Execute Greek Week 2009 (April 20-25)

  • Chair the Greek Week committee, and recruit representatives from all organizations to serve on the committee
  • Design the week of events, including selection of a philanthropy for the week to benefit
  • Coordinate rules and regulations for the events, including a point system and overall winner.

Design and publish the biweekly publication, The Stall Street Journal

  • Collect event dates and descriptions from all chapter, councils, and the Office of Greek Life
    Produce the biweekly newsletter
