SPARKS Peer Education

"SPARKS (Students Promoting Awareness, Responsibility, Knowledge, and Success) is a group of authentic and accepting peer educators, leaders and advocates who have a variety of passions and interests related to health, wellness and social justice. We empower students to make value-based choices by facilitating a nonjudgmental space to engage in supportive, open-minded conversations with peers. Through education, awareness, and collaborations we connect peer with further resources and encourage them to develop personal and community wellness."

Topics addressed by SPARKS include, but are not limited to: self-esteem/body image, alcohol education, sexual assault, sexual health, prescription drugs, and stress management.  SPARKS Peer Educators invite students to think critically about these and other health issues by raising questions, facilitating discussion, and disseminating health information.  SPARKS Peer Educators develop a multitude of skills, such as: leadership, public speaking, goal setting, time management, team work, program planning and evaluation.
