20th Annual Conference Information

Issues in Political Economy sponsors an annual undergraduate research conference. Typically, this conference is held as part of the Eastern Economic Association's Annual Meetings. Students serve as session chairs and discussants, as well as present their work. In the past these sessions have been very exciting and well attended.

Because the Eastern Economics conference is being held in May 2013, the IPE will hold its 20th annual conference March 1-2, 2013 at the Park Plaza Hotel in Boston. Urge your students to participate in the IPE conference and come join us in Boston for this important milestone!

There will also be a $200 Best Paper prize! To be eligible for the prize, the full, completed paper must be received via email by January 31st, 2013.

Because it is a stand-alone conference, we will also be hosting a handful of faculty research sessions. Faculty are invited to follow the same submission guidelines as students (see below).

Submissions

The submission deadline for presentations at the IPE 20th annual conference is Jan 15th, 2013. All proposals for student sessions must include complete addresses (including email and phone) for the student and faculty sponsor. To submit a presentation email the following information to Kate Easom, Executive Director of the conference at EEA@elon.edu:

Full name of presenter (as you want it to appear in the program).
Paper title.
200 word abstract (single spaced).
College/University name
.
Name and email address of faculty sponsor.

In addition:

Every student and faculty mentor must register for the conference. The fee for presenters & faculty is $65 and payable through paypal or via credit card by calling 336-278-6031. CLICK HERE TO PAY ONLINE.

A reception will be held at MJ O'Connor's on Friday, March 1 for all students and faculty mentors. The reception is free and there will be a cash bar.

If you have any day/time constraints, please let us know when you email your submission.

Presenters will be asked to serve as discussants on another paper. All presenters should email their paper to eea@elon.edu by February 18, 2013.

Housing information:

Rooms are reserved under the name ELON UNIVERSITY. We have not garaunteed a rate, but we have contracted for a minimum number of rooms. Please use our name when you make reservations. the current rate for that weekend is $149.00 for doubles! Call 1-800-225-2008 to make your reservations.

In the past, we have be able to arrange for students to share hotel rooms to keep costs down. Let us know if you would be interested in sharing a room.
