21st Annual Conference Information

Issues in Political Economy sponsors an annual undergraduate research conference.  The 2014 conference will be held at the Eastern Economic Association's Annual Meetings in Boston, MA March 7-9. Students serve as session chairs and discussants, as well as present their work. In the past these sessions have been very exciting and well attended.

There will also be a $200 Best Paper prize! To be eligible for the prize, the full, completed paper must be received via email by January 31st, 2014. 

Submissions

The submission deadline for presentations at the IPE 21st annual conference is Jan 15th, 2014. All proposals for student sessions must include complete addresses (including email and phone) for the student and faculty sponsor. To submit a presentation email the following information to Taylor Knight, IPE Editor at EEA@lists.elon.edu:

  • Full name of presenter (as you want it to appear in the program).
     
  • Paper title.
     
  • 200 word abstract (single spaced). 
     
  • College/University name
     .
  • Name and email address of faculty sponsor.

In addition:

  • All students and faculty mentors must register for the IPE sessions through the Eastern Economics Association. The fee to participate in IPE sessions is $80Click here to pay registration.
     
  • A reception will be held at MJ O'connors on Friday, March 7th, from 5:30-7:30pm for all students and faculty mentors.  The reception is free and there will be a cash bar.
  • If you have any day/time constraints, please let us know when you email your submission.
  • Presenters will be asked to serve as discussants on another paper. All presenters should email their paper to eea@lists.elon.edu by February 21, 2014.

Housing information:

  • The EEA conference is held at the Boston Park Plaza. CHECK HERE FOR HOUSING UPDATES.
  • In the past, we have be able to arrange for students to share hotel rooms to keep costs down. Let us know if you would be interested in sharing a room. 
     
  • Students looking for financial assistance for travel can apply for up to $200 in aid from the Council on Undergraduate Research. Click here for details about how to apply for funds.
     

*NOTE: Participation in the conference is not a requirement for publication in IPE, neither does it qualify your paper for IPE review. To submit your paper for publication to IPE, please refer to Submit a Paper to IPE.
