Training for Student Organizations

Student organization leaders are required to attend several events year in order to understand policies/procedures as well as to develop themselves as leaders.

Fall Trainings

  1.  President's Dinner: This is a formal dinner every fall co-hosted by the CFL and the President’s Office. Dr. Lambert gives a charge to the presidents and the organization development directors provide information/resources.
     
  2. Student Leader Training: This session is presented in collaboration by the Office of Student Involvement, the Moseley Center, the Center For Leadership, and the Student Government Association. The goal of this session is to share tools and resources for successfully leading and planning events for student organizations, highlighting the benefits and expectations of being a student leader, and informing leaders of resources available as a recognized group on campus. In addition, this one session will serve as the event management training to provide student organizations with access to SPACES and information will be provided regarding SGA funding.

Spring Trainings

  1.  Organization President's Banquet: This banquet is for all student organization presidents. It is an opportunity to celebrate the presidents' contributions to their organizations, provide information on resources, and facilitate collaboration between organizations
     
  2.  Budget Hearings: In order to request funding for the following fiscal year, the student organization treasurer MUST submit a budget proposal and attend a budget hearing. Student organizations will receive an email prior to these processes with instructions for the hearings.
     
  3. New Student Leader Training: This session is intended for students who have transitioned into new leadership roles for the spring of 2016. This session is presented in collaboration by the Office of Student Involvement, the Moseley Center, the Center For Leadership, and the Student Government Association. The goal of this session is to share tools and resources for successfully leading and planning events for student organizations, highlighting the benefits and expectations of being a student leader, and informing leaders of resources available as a recognized group on campus.
