Phase II of the Isabella Cannon Leadership Program centers students' attention around COLLABORATION. Leadership is a process that inevitably links people to one another. The most effective leaders have developed skills that allow them to bring diverse people together for the common good.
Leaders enrolled in ICLP will explore each component of the Social Change Model throughout their four years in the program with each year concentrating on a different value. Phase II focuses on group values and provides you an opportunity to explore collaboration, common purpose, and controversy with civility.
At the end of Phase II, the successful participant will:
Be able to examine group dynamics using the team performance model.
Understand how leadership behaviors can affect a group dynamic.
Learn strategies to effectively handle conflict within groups.
Recognize the importance of followership.
Recognize the role of power at the group, societal, and systematic level.
Develop an understanding of what it means to be a diverse local and global leader.
Be able to recognize in and out groups and implement strategies to reduce this divide.
Be able to articulate how group values are connected to the Social Change Model.
