SEPTEMBER

15th- National GLC Awareness Day! - Open House in Moseley 211 for all interested in learning about the center for National Gender LGBTQIA Awareness

23rd-26th National Bi-Visiblity Week

23rd- Bi-Visibility at College Coffee- GLC has a table at College Coffee celebrating and education about bisexual identites in honor of National Bi-Visibilty Week

23rd- Bi-namite: An Open Bi-alogue on Bisexual and Pansexual Identities/ Moseley 211- Matthew Antonio Bosch and GLC Student Worker Becca Nipper are leading a discussion on Bi Identities in honor of National Bi-Visibility Week!

27th- NC LGBT Pride Parade in Durham- Members of Spectrum and GLC are taking a group trip to Raleigh/Durham Pride and walking in the Parade!

30th- LGBTQIA Speaker/Author Justin Lee- 7pm-8pm Elon Community Church- Author, LGBTQIA Activist and Conservative Christian Justin Lee will be speaking at ECC to talk about his experience in the Conservative Christian community as a gay man.

OCTOBER 

2nd- Half the Sky Speakers at Convocation- Authors of the best selling book: Half the Sky: Turning Oppression into Oppurtunity for Women World Wide, Nicholas Kristof and Sheryll WuDunn will be speaking at Fall Convocation.  Panel to follow.

3rd- "Walk Against Victim Blaming" / 4:00pm Speakers Corner - Sponsored by EFFECT Elon Feminists as part of Support Survivors Week.

3rd-"Pelo Malo" Film Screening / 6:00pm LaRose Digital Theatre- Pelo Malo (Bad Hair) directed by Mariana Rondon will be screened. Themes of the film include gender identity, cultural identity, and homophobic panic. 

6th- "Questioning the Closet" Discussion Group / 4:15pm / Atkins Small Conf Room (Koury Gym) - This group focuses on exploring gender identity, sexual orientation, and the pros/cons associated with whether or not to "come out" to friends and family.

7th- National Coming Out Week Table at College Coffee / 9:40am / Phi Beta Kappa Plaza - GLC will be hosting a table at College Coffee in honor of National Coming Out Week.

16th- "Ally Night" @ Spectrum / 7:00pm / Moseley 217 - Bring an Ally to the Spectrum Mtg, we'll be learning about what it means to be an ally to identities across the gender and sexuality spectrum.

17th- Homecoming GLC Open House / 4-5pm / Moseley 211- The Center will be open for all students, visitors, & Elon Alumni to see all the advancements made by Elon since their departure.  Food provided.

18th- Homecoming LGBTQIA Alumni Tailgate / Lake Mary Nell / 11am-1pm- Celebrate the homecoming GAYme with the LGBTQIA Community at Elon!

19th- Homecoming LGBTQIA Alumni Awards Brunch / Moseley's McKinnon D / 11am-1pm- Awards Luncheon for LGBTQIA Advancement

27th-31st Intersex and Asexual Identity Awareness Week

30th- Halloween Party / 9:15pm-11:00pm / TapHouse - Come celebrate Halloween with Spectrum - food, dancing, games, costumes are encouraged, along with a small cash donation to raise money for Time Out Youth assisting with LGBTQIA local youth - for more info, please check out our Facebook event at https://www.facebook.com/events/989284304430285/

NOVEMBER

3rd- "Questioning the Closet" Discussion Group / 4:15 / Atkins Small Conf Room (Koury Gym) - This group focuses on exploring gender identity, sexual orientation, and the pros/cons associated with whether or not to "come out" to friends and family.

4th- "Practice Makes Perfect:  Mock Interviews & Resume Reviews for LGBTQIA Students" / 5:00-6:00 / Moseley 211 - Bring a sample resume, and practice your interview skills via our new "Group Interview" style.  Then we'll head down to the Student Professional Development Center to discuss topics like interview attire, facial piercings, tattoos, hair color, and general appearance on the job.  Co-sponsored across GLC & SPDC, featuring Rene Jackson, Amber McCraw, & Danielle Golinski !

17th- "Questioning the Closet" Discussion Group / 4:15 / Atkins Small Conf Room (Koury Gym) - This group focuses on exploring gender identity, sexual orientation, and the pros/cons associated with whether or not to "come out" to friends and family.

18th- College Coffee for Trans Awareness Week / 9:40am / Phi Beta Kappa Plaza - Join the GLC for a table celebrating "Trans Awareness Week" !  We'll be publicizing for model, trans advocate, & founder of GenderProud, Geena Rocero who is coming to visit on Fri Nov 21 & Sat Nov 22, exciting !!!

20th- Trans Day of Remembrance / 7:00pm / Moseley 217 - Spectrum is planning a vigil to honor those impacted by violence across trans* communities.

21st-22nd Intersect Conference - Elon is hosting the "Intersect" Diversity Leadership conference with keynote speaker, Geena Rocero - model, transgender advocate, founder of Gender Proud - for more information on Intersect, click here: http://www.elon.edu/e-web/students/multicultural_resources/conference/keynote.xhtml

DECEMBER

In honor of Reading Day & preparation for finals, Elon University does not allow student events in December.  Best of luck to all students with end-of-semester finals and preparations!!!  Check out Winter Term & Spring Term events!!!
