Report on Expanding the Role of the Elon University Multicultural Center

The committee on Expanding the Role of the Multicultural Center was assembled in February 2008 by the Provost and Vice President for Student Life in recognition of the university's role in preparing students to live and work in an increasingly diverse and multicultural society.

To fullfill the Elon University mission of "preparing students to be global citizens," the committee focused on plans that would foster a more diverse environment; increase support for students, faculty and staff of diverse populations; and provide cutting edge multicultural education in and out of the classroom. The report includes initiatives within four key strategies:

  1. Expand Support and Services for Students of Diverse Populations
  2. Develop a Comprehensive Multicultural Education Experience for all Students
  3. Maximize Internal and External Collaborations
  4. Expand Professional Staff of the Multicultural Center and Collaborate with Faculty
