The Vera Richardson Truitt Center for Religious and Spiritual Life is endowed by a generous gift from Douglas G. Noiles and Edna Truitt Noiles '44 "to enable Elon students to learn about their own and other faiths and to live lives of reconciliation. "
The Truitt Center is named to honor Edna's mother, who sent six daughters to Elon and whom she described as "an educator of the heart and of the spirit ... strong, intelligent and competitive,--a pioneer woman of the 20th century."
The Center was dedicated by Dr. Leo Lambert, Douglas and Edna Noiles, Richard McBride, and others from the Elon Community on Monday, October 11, 2004.
