Residence Life

The World Languages Floor

The World Languages Floor, housed on the 4th floor of Global D Zambezi House, is a community for students who are eager to explore languages other than English, to speak them as much as possible, and to share their passion for multilingual experiences with other students and faculty mentors.  The World Languages Floor is open to all students who wish to engage with world languages currently taught at Elon (Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Greek, Hebrew, Italian, Latin, and Spanish).

Typically, there are larger communities of students studying French, Spanish and Italian, but we are excited to build clusters of students learning all of the languages that Elon offers.

Cultural Linguistic Mentors

The World Languages Floor is home to Cultural Linguistic Mentors (CLMs)—native or near native speakers who serve as peer mentors in the different target languages. Living on the World Languages Floor offers students the opportunity to speak the various target languages with friends and faculty mentors, to explore multicultural perspectives, and to take advantage of all of the exciting intellectual and community-building experiences of the Global Neighborhood. If you are interested in applying for this unique mentorship opportunity, please see the CLM position description for more information.
