The Faculty-in-Residence program (FIR) encourages and maximizes the quality and quantity of faculty-student interaction on campus and outside of the classroom by having faculty members live in apartments located within the residence halls.
Faculty in the program get a unique perspective on student life and unique opportunities to interact with students in learning outside the classroom, all of which lead to:
- community building
- intellectual discussion and growth
- career and idea exploration
- creative thinking and
- practice in lifelong and seamless learning.
Students living in these halls have the opportunity to develop friendships and mentoring relationships with interesting and popular faculty members and their families.
Faculty-in-residence impact students by:
- interacting with students in informal settings
- providing informal academic advising
- maintaining contact hours each week in the residence halls.
