Assistant Dean of Students
The Assistant Dean of students provides guidance and direction for Residence Life. The Assistant Dean plays an integral role in almost all departmental initiatives including housing selection, learning communities, and staff recruitment and retention for Residence Life.
Director of Residence Life
The Director of Residence Life is responsible for the overall operation of the department. He/she defines and reviews policies and procedures of the department. It is the director’s responsibility to provide leadership and guidance in the implementation of policies, procedures and programs in all areas of Residence Life. The Director supervises two Associate Directors of Residence Life and two Assistant Directors of Residence Life.
Associate Director of Residence Life Operations & Information Management
The Associate Director of Residence Life Operations & Information Management oversees the assignment process for all returning and new incoming students, provides direction for departmental processes, including room changes, roommate mediation, early arrivals, off campus housing appeals, summer and break housing, and well as opening and closing. The Associate Director supervises Assistant Directors of Residence Life and the Housing Operations Program Assistant.
Associate Director of Residence Life for Residential Education
The Associate Director of Residence Life Community Development & Education oversees all community building, residential education, and leadership development in the residence halls; providing primary and secondary supervision, training, advisement, and direction for Assistant Directors of Residence Life. Supports departmental efforts to develop HAs, RAs, and RACs and advisement of residential student leadership organizations, including Resident Student Association and Area Councils. The Associate Director is part of the Learning Community Leadership Team that develops, trains, and promotes our learning communities to students and faculty. The Associate Director supervises Assistant Directors of Residence Life.
Housing Operations Program Assistant
The Housing Operations Program Assistant assists the Associate Director of Residence Life Operations and Information Management with the assignment process for all returning and new incoming students, assisting with departmental processes including room changes, early arrivals, off campus housing appeals, summer and break housing, as well as opening and closing. In addition the Housing Operations Program Assistant is responsible for coordinating the student staff payroll process.
Assistant Director of Residence Life
Assistant Directors of Residence Life is a professional staff member’s with a master’s degree and is responsible for the overall administration of a residential area. The Assistant Director live in an on-campus apartment and supervisees the area student staff (HAs,RAs, and RACs). In addition the Assistant Director facilitate administrative room changes, conduct judicial hearings, and provide basic counseling for all residents within their community and support all students engaged in the learning process. The Assistant Director supervises one program assistant.
Area Assistants are responsible for the overall day-to-day job operations of a Residence Life Area Office. Their responsibilities include managing daily functions of the area office, including physical plant work requests and work order billing; judicial violation meeting and sanction notification; and training and evaluating student workers. This position provides support and assistance to the Assistant Director of Residence Life, student staff and area residents. Area Assistants are often the first contact many students have with Residence Life. The Area Assistant for the main office also services as a support for the Director of Residence Life, Associate Directors of Residence Life and Assistant Director of Residence Life as well as a clearinghouse for much of the departmental communication that occurs day to day.
