Description:
Elon's Service Learning Community is a residential
option for students interested in community service.
Forty-one students live together on the third floor of
Chandler Hall for their freshman year. SLC members come to
campus two days early for a special SLC orientation before
participating in regular new student orientation. Throughout
the year, members participate in service projects, community
activities, social functions and reflection sessions.
Students have the option of taking a Winter Term Service
Learning class designed specifically for the SLC.

Requirements?
Students must show an interest in and committment to service
and community involvement. Students will be expected to
participate in service projects, social events nad
reflections.
What is the facility like?
Located on the 3rd Floor of Chandler
Centrally located on campus near Moseley Campus Center,
Koury Athletics, Belk Library, Harden Dining Hall and the
Greek Courts
Co-ed with suites separated by gender
Double occupancy rooms
Varying sized common rooms in each suite
Suites connected by a balcony (gathering place for
SLC'ers)
Computer lab on 1st Floor Chandler

apply?
Freshman: Mark YES on question 7 of the Freshman
Online Housing Application and answer the 3 essay questions
attached to the application.
Returning Students: Contact the Faculty or Staff
Advisor(s) for the community, attend the Learning Communities
Information Meeting, complete the application in March,
during the Housing Selection process.
