La Maison
Française à Elon
What is it?
La Maison Française offers a unique environment for
students interested in French language, culture, and the
francophone world. Residents can participate in weekly
dinners, crepe and fondue evenings, film showings, lectures,
conversation tables and other special events sponsored by the
French Club and the French Honor Society, Pi Delta Phi.
Residents are not required to speak exclusively French, but
students living in the French House should want and expect to
speak French as often as possible, particularly at group
meals and special events.
Who will live there?
Freshmen and upperclassmen are equally welcome.
Residents must have completed French 122 (or qualifying
placement score) by the time they live in the house. The
house is open to both men and women.
Residents are expected to take pride in the French
House. Students should have a positive attitude toward
cross-cultural living and communication, contribute to the
academic goals of the house, and maintain the cooperative
spirit of the house.
Where is it?
The French House is on the second floor of the
Colonnades A residence hall next to Koury Business
Center. Also on that floor are the Italian House and German
House.
The floor includes:
-
single bedrooms (stand-alone or suites)
-
wireless internet
-
cable TV
-
laundry facilities
-
common room with kitchenette
How much does it cost?
Each room is a single so the cost to live in the house is
the price of a single room on campus per semester. The rates
for the following academic year are determined during the
March Board of Trustees meeting.
Freshmen are required to have 11 meal plan, Sophomores are
required to have a 9 and Juniors/Seniors are required to have
a 5 meal plan.
