Presentations

SPARKS peer educators offer a variety of workshops for classes and for student organizations. Please fill out the following form and request your presentation at least two weeks ahead of time.

Alcohol Jeopardy

This is a fun, interactive jeopardy program that tests Elon students about alcohol, while informing them about NC State Laws. The different jeopardy categories include: BAC (Blood Alcohol Content), NC Laws, Elon, Statistics, and Alcohol. Students can take away valuable information that will help all students learn how to handle different situations involving alcohol whether they drink or not. Time: 55 minutes

Alcohol 101
This presentation is mostly given to HED 111: Wellness classes although it can be used with any class or organization. Students learn how alcohol can impact them academically, socially, and physically. Students learn strategies on how to stay safe, recognize the signs of alcohol poisoning, local laws, dangers of drinking and driving, and drinking and sexual choices.

Stimulate Me! The Real Deal about Adderall
In this presentation, students will learn about Adderall, one of the most commonly abused prescription drugs among college students. Participants will learn the history, effects, proper and recreational use, and signs to look for in someone abusing this drug. Time: 45 minutes

Hooked on Hookah?
In this presentation, participants will learn what hookah and shisha are and the health-risks involved.  Participants will learn the history of hookahs and why they are so popular among college students. Participants will be able to filter through information and determine what the myths and facts are about hookahs and shisha.                             Time: 45 minutes

Sexual and Relationship Violence
A discussion about the issue of violence in our culture.  Students will develop an understanding about sexual and relationship violence as it relates to a college experience.  They will also get information specific to Elon’s campus community.  Additionally, the presented can include information about campus safety and getting involved in prevention efforts on campus.

Relationship and Sexual Health
A discussion about healthy choices for students regarding intimate relationships and students who engage in sexual activity.  We will also discuss the decision not to engage in sexual activity and how to talk about that with peers.  Students will develop critical thought processes about making healthy decisions in their relationships.  Information will also be given regarding sexually transmitted infections, testing, unintended pregnancy and safe sex.

Tailored Presentation
This request can focus on any combination of these presentations or a presentation about correlated issues.  For example, your class may be discussing gender roles and you may want to have a presentation about gender specific violence and how cultural roles fuel such violence.  We would be happy to work with you to tailor a discussion to fit your class needs.
