Alpha Phi Alpha has long stood at the forefront of the African-American community's fight for civil rights through leaders such as: W.E.B. DuBois, Adam Clayton Powell, Jr., Edward Brooke, Martin Luther King, Jr., Thurgood Marshall, Andrew Young, William Gray, Paul Robeson, and many others.

Today in its eighth decade of being "trendsetters for the uplifting of humanity," Alpha proudly boasts of having initiated over 250,000 men into its Ice Cold Kingdom. Also, not only is Alpha Phi Alpha the first, largest, and most prestigious Black Greek lettered fraternity but, in the professional ranks Alpha claims 60% of all Black doctors, 75% of Black lawyers, 65% of all Black dentists, and close to 90% of all Black college presidents. With Brothers in over 700 college and graduate chapters Alpha Phi Alpha has spread to other areas of the world such as the Caribbean, Africa, and Europe.
