Service Trips
Whats a great way to meet people,
have fun and help somebody in need? Go on a service trip!
Elon
Volunteers! offers service trips during each fall, winter and spring break,
as well as some weekends.
This year's service trips include construction and whitewater rafting
in West Virginia, home renovation and repair in Charleston, S.C., and
our first international service trip to work with Habitat for Humanity
in the Dominican Republic.
Previous service trips have traveled to Miami, Washington, D.C., Anniston,
Ala., and Rocky Mount, N.C. We have worked with Habitat for Humanity,
D.C. Central Kitchen, Mountain Housing Opportunity, and Boys and Girls
Clubs. The cost for week-long domestic service trips is typically less
than $200, which includes meals, transportation, housing and program fees.
If a spring break service trip isn't long enough for you, register for
the Winter Term Study Abroad / Service Learning course in Guatemala.
We spend a week learning about the culture, politics, economy and language
of the country, then two weeks working with local families through one
of Guatemala's Habitat for Humanity affiliates. Visit the Isabella
Cannon Center for International Studies Web site for more info about
this great opportunity.
