The Susan Scholarship

The Susan Scholarship is Elon’s most distinguished scholarship opportunity for freshmen students. Established in 2007, The Susan is a $12,000 need-based scholarship opportunity for women.

In addition to the $12,000 annual award, each scholarship includes a $4,000 Elon Experiences grant to be used toward a study abroad, leadership, service, internship or undergraduate research opportunity. The scholarship will be part of a financial aid package that may include other scholarships, grants, loans and need-based aid. The goal will be to meet up to the student’s full documented financial need. Two women will receive the scholarship beginning in fall 2008.

The ideal Susan Scholarship candidate will be a young woman who is poised to take advantage of an Elon education, but for whom this possibility seems only a dream because of financial circumstances. The successful candidate will have solid preparation for college, strong academic potential and significant financial need.

In addition to the information included in the application, scholarship evaluation will include:

• The official high school transcript

• Official standardized test scores

• Documented financial need

• The Recommendation Form

• An interview

The Susan Scholarship deadline is February 8. A special application is required.
