Conservator's Center

Description: We encourage students to volunteer who can make a regular time commitment, or who would like to volunteer as a group or club. For individual volunteers in animal care, students need to plan to visit us on a tour, attend an orientation and commit to a regular schedule, coming for a minimum of four morning hours at least twice per month. If a student cannot commit to a schedule, he or she could plan on coming for a single volunteer day as part of a group. Work day groups usually tackle manual labor jobs like erecting fence, helping with construction cleanup, or building enrichment for the animals.

Best Times for Volunteers: We offer an internship program of 240 hours working with our animal keepers. This includes hands-on learning animal nutrition and husbandry, facility construction and maintenance, and many other skills. This is a very physical internship, and at no time should a volunteer expect to be handling the wild animals directly. More information is availabl
