The Town of Elon was chartered on April 7, 1893 by the General Assembly of North Carolina. The municipality is located in Alamance County and has the following departments: Police Department, Fire Department, Parks & Recreation Department, Downtown Development, Finance, Planning, Public Works, Tax Collector, Water/Sewer, and Town Clerk. The government of the Town is a manager/council style consisting of a Board of Aldermen and a Town Manager. Town staff totals 53 people across all the departments. The Town of Elon is proud to be the home to Elon University and Twin Lakes. The Town has a variety of opportunities for projects, volunteering, and events.
