Crossroads Sexual Assault Response & Resource Ctr.

Description: Our Mission is to eliminate sexual violence, child victimization, and their effects through confidential counseling, advocacy, child medical treatment, education and community awareness for adults and children. Our Agency provides prevention education, inter-agency coordination, and services for persons affected by sexual violence. Crisis Intervention Volunteers cover our 24-hour crisis line and respond to victims at the hospital or police department or provide support to callers. Community Education Volunteers provides sexual violence prevention programs to local groups and in the Alamance-Burlington school system.

Volunteer Orientation Times: individually set. See attached for Crisis Line Training

Best Times for Volunteers: Crisis Intervention volunteers will need to attend trainings at night and then volunteer as their schedule permits. Community Educator volunteers are needed between 7:30 to 4:00pm for 90 minute classes within the school system; or on night and weekends.

Notes: 23 hours of free training is provided for volunteers to be a Crisis Intervention Volunteer or Community Ed. Volunteer. The training topics include Sexual Assault, Human Trafficking, Offenders, Special Populations, Volunteer's Role, Advocacy, Crisis Intervention, Active Listening and more.

Directions to Service Location: Take Front Street to Burlington. Take a left on North Church Street. Take another left on Vaughn Road. We are the first large building on the left. We are on the first floor.
