Get in shape with Phoenix Fit

Phoenix Fit, a new Wellness program, is tailored to fit the needs of Elon's faculty and staff.

Creating wellness starts with an effective work-life balance. Consider committing to Phoenix Fit twice a week before work to jump-start your metabolism, lose weight, increase strength and improve flexibility, and you may even find a workout partner.

Phoenix Fit takes place in Jordan Gym. Drop in anytime between 6:30 a.m. and 8 a.m. to get your program started. Phoenix Fit is tailored to your needs and schedule.

What is Phoenix Fit?
Phoenix Fit is a fitness program offered to Elon employees and administered by faculty from the Departments of Physical Therapy Education (DPTE) and Health & Human Performance (HHP). Elon graduate and undergraduate students will also assist in delivery of the program. Participants will walk or run in the gym and will participate in stretching and strengthening exercises. The program will offer a convenient and fun group environment for exercise, health education and support for behavior change.

What is the purpose of Phoenix Fit?
The primary purpose of Phoenix Fit is to improve your fitness level. Through this effort we hope to reduce your risk of chronic disease and improve your quality of life. A specific program will be designed to meet your personal fitness goals and current health status.

Where and when will Phoenix Fit occur?
Phoenix Fit will be offered in Jordan Gym in the Koury Athletic Center from 6:30 a.m. to 8 a.m. on Tuesday and Thursday mornings. Come for 30 minutes or for an hour. The program is tailored to your needs.

How do I get started in Phoenix Fit?
If you are a healthy male younger than 40 or a healthy female younger than 50, you can join anytime. During your initial visit, you will be screened by a Phoenix Fit staff member who will do a basic assessment of your health and physical fitness so a specific exercise program can be designed for you.

If you fall into an older age category, smoke or have any specialized health issues, including any orthopedic issues, you must first make an appointment with the Wellness Center (x5569). During this appointment they will make sure that you can safely and effectively start an exercise program. Following this assessment, you will then meet with a Phoenix Fit staff member to get started in the program.

Does participation in Phoenix Fit cost anything?
No, at the moment the Wellness Center is offering this as a benefit to employees.

Who do I contact?
