Elon Teaching Fellows hosts Triad Intercollegiate Conference

The fourth annual Triad Intercollegiate Conference was held Feb. 21 on Elon’s campus with participating teacher education students from Elon, UNC-Greensboro, N.C. A&T and NC Central.

Sixty-six education students from Elon, UNC-Greensboro, N.C. A&T and NC Central participated in two workshops sessions led by faculty from each Triad campus.

Larry Conte, principal of Harvey Newlin Elementary School, was the  keynote speaker.

“The keynote speaker was awesome! He was energetic and passionate,” one student said. “He showed several examples of how being a great, passionate, and loving teacher can be rewarding. I feel like my flame was reignited.”

Breakout session topics ranged from sessions on what principals look for in the hiring process to using social media in the classroom.

The Triad Intercollegiate Conference is jointly sponsored by Elon, UNC-Greensboro and N.C. A&T. It is organized by a leadership team of students composed of members from each institution.
