Professors to share insights & stories of global refugee crises – March 4

“Forced Migration, Violence, and Poverty in a Global Society: A Panel Discussion on World Refugee & Migration Crises” will allow Elon University faculty to share firsthand knowledge of issues surrounding international human rights issues.

“Forced Migration, Violence, and Poverty in a Global Society: A Panel Discussion on World Refugee & Migration Crises”

Isabella Cannon Room (Performing Arts Center)

The event is free and open to the public. No tickets are required.

This panel discussion will focus on global issues regarding refugees, and those forced to migrate within national borders and across countries. It will examine the driving forces of refugee crises, such as violence, persecution and displacement in major world regions, as well as reflect on the challenges refugees face in United Nations-run camps, in transit, and while integrating themselves into new communities. Professors will analyze national and international policies and practices protecting them and how these may be improved.

Professor Brian Pennington, director of the Center for the Study of Religion, Culture, and Society, will open the forum.

Elon University junior Ameya Benegal, an economics and statistics double major, will facilitate the panel discussion. Fadam will conclude the discussion and questions from the audience are encouraged.
