During the March 10 interview, titled “Local Sports Expert Weighs In On Future Of ACC Tournament,” Weaver examined the long-term prospects of the Atlantic Coast Conference men’s basketball tournament in the city of Greensboro. The interview was broadcasted on the opening day of this year’s tournament.

While the ACC men’s basketball tournament isn’t scheduled to return to Greensboro until 2020, the professor explained the city remains a viable candidate to host the conference’s future championships. In addition to the city’s central location to ACC institutions, Weaver cited continued investment in the infrastructure of the Greensboro Coliseum as another reason for optimism that the tournament will continue to return to the Gate City.

Prior to arriving at Elon in 2004, Weaver served 10 years in Division I college athletic administration. He serves on numerous advisory boards for local, regional and national organizations within the sport and event industry. His research interests relate to college athletics.
