Global Neighborhood faculty, staff and student present at conference

Members of the Global Neighborhood Association presented to a group of international educators at the NCAIE State Conference on March 13.

Four members of the Global Neighborhood Association presented at the North Carolina Association of International Educators (NCAIE) Annual State Conference at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill on March 13.  The presenters were:

The presentation, An Integrated Living-Learning Environment: Elon University’s Global Neighborhood, provided an overview of the history, development and implementation of the residential campus structure in the new residential area at Elon. Allocco addressed the broader context of the residential campus initiative, her role as the faculty director in residence  and the neighborhood’s hallmark Tuesday night events. Paul Geis discusses the GEC's move to the Global Neighborhood
Paul Geis discusses the GEC’s move to the Global Neighborhood[/caption]the GN Association and spoke about her involvement with the neighborhood as an advisor one of its Living Learning Communities, la Maison française, and working with the Cultural Linguistic Mentors. Geis shared how the GEC is functioning as an academic partner within the neighborhood and how its new location can benefit students, both domestic and international. Dahal shared some of her own personal experiences as a neighborhood resident, including as a student in a linked section of COR 110 and as an RLA for this course later on.

The session was well-received by a diverse audience of professionals in international education, civic engagement, and residence life. NCAIE is the state organization of NAFSA: The Association of International Educators.
