Elon men's basketball among nation's best in academic performance

The NCAA has named Phoenix men's basketball among the top 16 teams in the nation in academic progress over the past four years.

Men's basketball players Austin Hamilton, Kevin Blake and Ryan Winters were among graduates in the Class of 2015.
Elon University men’s basketball is among 16 programs in the nation that have accumulated a perfect 1,000 multi-year Academic Progress Rate (APR) score over the past four years, following the NCAA’s recent annual report on APR scores. CBS Sports’ Matt Norlander reported the news May 27, saying Elon was among the nation’s “flawless” teams.

Including Elon, the programs recognized for having a perfect 1,000 multi-year APR score over the past four years include the following:

Arizona
Arizona State
Belmont
Bucknell
Colgate
Dartmouth
Elon
Florida
Indiana
Louisville
Pittsburgh
St. Bonaventure
Stanford
Texas
Vermont
William & Mary

As a whole, Elon had eight programs earn public recognition for APR on May 20 – the most in the Colonial Athletic Association. The APR provides a real-time look at a team’s academic success each semester by tracking the academic progress of each student-athlete on scholarship. The APR accounts for eligibility, retention and graduation and provides a measure of each team’s academic performance.
