Kenn Gaither, an associate professor and associate dean in the School of Communications, collaborated with two communications scholars to write a chapter in “The Routledge Handbook of Critical Public Relations,” published in August 2015 by Routledge.

Gaither co-authored a chapter titled, “Articulating Public Relations Practice and Critical/Cultural Theory Through a Cultural-Economic Lens.” Patricia A. Curtin, endowed chair of public relations at the University of Oregon, and Erica Ciszek, assistant communications professor at the University of Houston, also contributed to the chapter.

Gaither and Curtin have worked together previously, publishing a 2012 book titled, “Globalization and Public Relations in Postcolonial Nations: Challenges and Opportunities.”

“The Routledge Handbook of Critical Public Relations” explores emerging global paradigms of public relations scholarship and practice, culling myriad perspectives from varied theoretical traditions. According to the book’s description, “This makes it an essential reference for public relations researchers, educators and students around a world that is becoming more critical in the face of growing inequality and environmental challenges.”

The book’s editors are Jacquie L’Etang, David McKie, Nancy Snow and Jordi Xifra.
