elondocs enters sixth year, welcomes largest cohort 

The School of Communications’ documentary program introduces its 12 new student members for the 2015-16 academic year.

Members of elondocs gather on the steps of McEwen Communications Building. This year’s cohort includes 12 sophomores, juniors and seniors, the largest group in the history of the documentary film production program.
​Now in its sixth year, elondocs, a documentary film production program housed in the School of Communications, welcomes 12 members – its largest group – for the 2015-16 school year.  The cohort consists of sophomores, juniors and seniors, who will produce four short documentaries during the course of the year.

Additionally, students and faculty director Nicole Triche will attend Durham’s Full Frame Documentary Film Festival in April 2016.

​Nick Haskin
Nick Haskin is a junior majoring in cinema and television arts with a minor in multimedia authoring. Most notably, Nick has garnered the attention of thousands through his GoPro videos posted on YouTube. Aside from being a tech-geek for cameras, Nick enjoys being outside, hiking, kayaking and hanging around in his hammock playing his ukulele. Desiring to make a positive impact on the world around him, Nick is excited to use the skills he’s learned over the past two years at Elon to create inspiring and meaningful documentaries within the elondocs program.

Lauren Duncan
From Wilmington, Lauren Duncan is excited to be a part of elondocs during her sophomore year. She is currently pursuing a double major in cinema and television arts and strategic communications, with a minor in digital art. She believes that the program will move her closer to her dream career of video production. Lauren is also a part of Elon Local News, Live Oak Communications, “Elon Tonight,” club basketball and InterVarsity.

Born in Birmingham, Michigan, Cameron Ciesielski lives in Needham, Massachusetts, with his parents and three younger brothers. At Elon, he is double majoring in broadcast journalism and philosophy. In addition to the elondocs program, he is also involved in two on-campus sports television shows (“One On One Sports” and “Elon Phoenix Weekly”), the Periclean Scholars program, new student orientation, and the club ice hockey team.

Adam Hobson
Sophomore Adam Hobson is studying cinema and television arts with a double minor in digital art and business administration. He was born and raised in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, but his parents recently moved to Ocean City, Maryland, where the family previously spent summers. In his spare time Adam enjoys being outdoors with his friends and watching movies.

Meredith Piatt
Meredith Piatt is a sophomore Communications Fellow from Elon, majoring in strategic communications and double minoring in poverty and social justice and human service studies. She was a member of FreshTV her first year, and decided to continue to build on her interest of documentaries through elondocs. She is a member of Alpha Omicron Pi sorority, student ambassador for University Admissions, participant in InterVarsity, and member of Phi Eta Sigma honor society. Meredith enjoys watching documentaries with themes highlighting poverty, sex trafficking, social or cultural discrimination, and crime.

Hali Tauxe-Stewart is a sophomore from Tallahassee, Florida.

Andrew Steinitz
Andrew Steinitz was born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland, with five brothers and sisters. He is pursuing a degree in cinema and television arts with minors in computer science and entrepreneurship. Andrew enjoys editing film and hopes to work in film production or post-production. In his free time he plays soccer and snowboards.

Tucker Jepsen
Tucker Jepsen is a senior broadcast and new media major from Stamford, Connecticut. He enjoys long walks on the beach and is a two-time Elon Super Smash Bros. champion. Tucker has been making videos and short documentaries since he was in middle school, and is ready to take his skills to the next level.

Azurra Catucci
For as long as she can remember, Azzurra Catucci has had a passion for service, travel and entertainment. Growing up, she was always bringing up movies to her classmates, planning trips around the world, or trying to raise awareness of animal cruelty. Eventually Azzurra realized that she could use her three strongest passions to create a career, and so began her journey at Elon, where she is majoring in cinema and television arts and double minoring in Italian studies and environmental and sustainability studies. She hopes to create a positive change in the world through film. Azzurra is looking forward beginning her sophomore year with elondocs and is excited to collaborate with other equally passionate individuals.

Rachel Kading
Rachel Kading is a sophomore cinema and television arts major. She was born and raised in Basalt, Colorado, and moved to Nyack, New York, during her junior year of high school. In her free time Rachel can be found hiking, drinking coffee, watching “Top Chef” or baking her famous walnut, chocolate chip, banana bread. She loves to travel and hopes to one day explore other cultures and tell peoples’ stories through filmmaking.

Katharine Milbradt is a sophomore from Annapolis, Maryland. She is a double major in cinema and television arts and international studies. Katharine aspires to travel the world and make documentaries along the way. On campus, she is involved in Alpha Phi Omega, Cinelon, “Win Stuff” and is a Periclean Scholar. In her free time, Katharine can be found playing ukulele, eating Nutella or watching documentaries on Netflix.

Rebekah Richin
Bekah Richin is a junior cinema and television arts major. An active student on campus, Bekah is the videographer for The Edge, vice president of communications for I AM THAT GIRL and a WSOE radio show host. Bekah spent the past spring semester in Los Angeles with the Elon in LA program and interned with Caviar, a production company that recently produced feature film “Diary of a Teenage Girl.” While in Los Angeles, she worked on set for a number of commercials, two upcoming feature films and a documentary. After graduating and spending some time traveling the world, Bekah hopes to move to Los Angeles and become a producer.
