Karlis Dunens, Assistant Volleyball Coach
Karlis Dunens is from Spring, Texas and has a bachelor’s degree in electronics engineering technology from Texas A&M University. Before becoming a Phoenix, he worked with University of Memphis, Southwestern University, University of Houston and Jacksonville State. He spends his free time watching movies and TV shows with his fiancée, Amanda Garrison, and their dog, Bruno. He also enjoys building audio and speaker systems and, of course, sports.
Crystal Dunn, Custodian
Crystal Dunn is from Gibsonville, NC, and lives with her daughter Hayley, 8. She enjoys reading, shopping and art. She has previously worked for Elon and enjoys the community.
Dennis K. James, Custodian
Dennis K. James is from Danville, Virginia. He holds a degree in criminal justice and has worked for the North Carolina Department of Corrections. He lives with his daughter Bethany, 16, and their pet, Tiny. Dennis likes boats and sports, and in his free time enjoys reading and spending time outdoors. He says working at Elon will be a good change.
Fern Lynn Johnston, Custodian
Fern Lynn Johnson is from Milford, Michigan and received her associate’s degree in applied science from Baker College in Flint, Michigan. She is the mother of three children and cares for four dogs and four cats. She enjoys reading mysteries, taking walks, and spending time with her granddaughter and her pets.
Brenda McCoy, Custodian
Brenda McCoy resides in Burlington with her husband, Calvin McCoy. She enjoys reading in her free time and decided to join the Elon community because of the staff members.
Tennant McVea, Assistant Men’s Soccer Coach
Tennant McVea is from Belfast, Northern Ireland. He has played professional soccer and holds a degree in communications with a minor in business from Loyola University of Maryland. He lives with his wife, Megan and their dog, Brutus, a boxer mix. In his spare time he enjoys working out, walking Brutus, binge watching Netflix with Megan and reading Vince Flynn novels before bed. Tennant is excited to work at Elon and says, “I am thankful for the opportunity to do something that I love in a top-class environment surrounded by good people.”
Angie Reid, Program Assistant to Clinical Education
Angie Reid is from Fort Riley, Kansas. She went to school for advertising design and photography at Guilford Technical Community College, and also attended Rendleman Insurance School. In her free time she volunteers with a basketball team for urban youth boys, teaches computer skills at her church, and is involved with Habitat for Humanity and March of Dimes. When asked what brought her to Elon she says, “the beautiful people in my department and their welcoming spirit.”
Matthew Tuck, Groundskeeper
Matthew Tuck is originally from Burlington, North Carolina. He lives with his partner, Tatiana, and their two children, Connor, 5 and Tyler, 8. In his free time he likes to fish, hunt and mow the lawn. He says that he chose Elon because it’s a great place to learn and grow his career.
Annie Williams, Driver
Annie Williams is originally from Gibsonville, North Carolina. She lives with her spouse, James Swinson and their three dogs and one cat. In her free time she enjoys bowling and gardening. What she appreciates most about Elon is the community.
